Luxembourg map

Luxembourg offers accommodation options to suit every budget, from no-frills hostels to no-expense-spared hotels. The 4-star Hotel Simoncini is well-positioned, has a trendy modern art gallery as its foyer, and is slightly cheaper than other city centre hotels. For travel on a shoestring, Charly's Gare is just an 11-minute drive from the city centre, with simple but well-furnished rooms and mountain views.

Take a walk from shop to shop on Luxembourg's friendly pedestrian streets. Housed in gorgeously historic buildings, the shops and restaurants of the city centre have a unique charm about them. Those seeking some retail therapy will also relish Luxembourg's shopping malls, with their unique selection of shops and boutiques, restaurants and snack bars. Trade events are also regularly organised by malls as a day out for all the family.

You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to Luxembourg's delicious dining scene. The indulgent La Cristallerie is beautifully lit with stained glass and offers great options for vegetarians. For something a bit different, Grimougi is off the beaten path with innovative dishes spanning a range of different cuisines, from Italian to Portuguese. Make sure you book, though, as it's packed out with locals at the weekends.

Culture is incredibly important to the citizens of Luxembourg and nothing proves it more than their love of festivals. If you’re planning a visit during one of these events makes sure you join the fun:

Diekirch Carnival

A short distance from the capital, the idyllic town of Diekirch plays host to Luxembourg’s biggest carnival in early March to celebrate the start of spring. This 60-float parade features some of the best entertainers in Luxembourg and is unmissable for many of the country’s residents.

Winterlights

A combination Christmas market and light show, the winterlights festival is held from late November till early January in the country’s capital. Thousands of lights and decorations cover the city, transforming it into a picturesque winter wonderland – perfect for getting into the spirit of the season.
