Larnaca map

Those wishing to stay in luxury accommodation in Larnaca should be looking at the coastal road outside of the town centre. For a peaceful option with rooms overlooking the sea try the Golden Bay Beach Hotel (Larnaca-Dhekeleia Road). For mid range and budget options the town centre near Phinikoudes Beach is the most likely area to find a room, with Les Palmiers (Athens Street) a comfortable choice. Achilleos City Hotel (Dimosthenous Mitsi Street) offers spacious rooms for a reasonable price, while those on a budget could do much worse than the studio-style accommodation at Tuck Inn (95A Athens Avenue).

Head to Larnaca Promenade for delicate handmade lace, local leather products and chewy Cypriot loukoumia, a locally made sweet. Every Sunday there is an open-air market at Ermou Street from 10am to 1pm, which presents a great opportunity to have a scour for inexpensive local crafts. Larnaca can be great for bargains on designer goods compared to other places in Europe, with Italian leather available at Bagatt and jewellery at Joakim (both on Zenonos Kittieos Street). Elsewhere, Calzedonia (Ermou Street) sells well-priced beachwear.

Larnaca is a bastion of Mediterranean flavours and value-for-money dining, while feasting lavishly on classic Cypriot dishes shouldn't break the bank. For superb meze spreads try Koutsonikolias Tavern (2 Agiou Vassiliou Street), or for Levantine cuisine head to local favourite Abu Dany (3 Lordou Vyronos Street). Harbourside Dionyssos Fish Tavern (7 Agkyras Street) dishes up excellent seafood, or for a few drinks before or after dinner check out Art Café 1900 (6 Stasinou Street), complete with an extensive wine list and walls decked out with memorabilia.
