Flying to Europe? Find out more about the new Entry and Exit System (EES)

From 12 October 2025, the EU will introduce a new Entry and Exit System (EES) for UK and non-EU nationals, travelling for a short stay. EES is an automated system that will require travellers to register at the border by scanning their passport and having their fingerprints and photograph taken.

EES is designed to improve border security within the EU and its neighbouring countries and reduce illegal migration in the Schengen area. It will automate border control checks to help the EU stop visitors overstaying.
