Dropping Off or Picking Up

There are different options for dropping off or picking someone up from London Stansted. We have options at our Short Stay car parks, or a free alternative at our Mid Stay car park. You can either pick up or drop off at both locations. We also have an Express Set Down option for quick drop-offs.

You can make a payment at any of the automatic ticket machines in and around the terminal building. Alternatively, using the ticket received at the barrier on entrance, insert your ticket into the barrier followed by a credit/debit card upon departure. Your payment card will be debited the correct amount and a receipt offered.

Drop off only

This option is most suitable for a quick drop off for loved ones or friends. It is the most convenient option for passengers, with check-in just minutes away.

Payment can be made via card*. Vehicles must not be left unattended. Unattended vehicles may be towed and will incur a towing fee.

There will be a £20 charge for re-entering within 30 minutes of first entering the car park.

You can pick up or drop off in the Orange, Green & Blue Short Stay car parks. This is ideal if you want to accompany passengers or head into the terminal to meet someone.

Mid Stay Car Park

Pick up or drop off

We have a free pick up or drop off option at our Mid Stay car park. This car park is free for up to 60 minutes.

After 2 hours	Day rate

After your first free 60 minutes, you will be charged £5 for the second hour. Any time exceeding, you will be charged a day rate. Details of this can be found on our Turn Up & Park page.

There will be a £40 charge for re-entering within 1 hour of first entering the car park.

Cashless Payments

With our new cashless Express Set Down system, we’re making things super easy for you. No more dealing with physical cash or searching for change at the barrier. You can simply use your credit or debit card or even your mobile phone to pay. Just a quick tap, scan or wipe, and you’re good to go!

Local Resident Discount Scheme

This scheme is open to all residents living within a 10-mile radius of London Stansted Airport.

To apply for a new local resident card, please complete the form registration here.

What is the local resident discount scheme?

Residents who live within a 10-mile radius of Stansted Airport are entitled to join this scheme, which provides a reduced charge at the Express Set Down. All other car parks will be charged at the standard rate. Stays over the allocated 15 minutes will also be charged in full, according to standard terms.

Residents living within 5 miles of London Stansted Airport will be charged 50p for up to 15 minutes.

Residents living within 10 miles of the airport will be charged £1.00 for up to 15 minutes. Normal tariffs will apply thereafter.

I have just moved into the area. What should I do?

You can apply for your local resident discount card by submitting proof of your new address. Click here to complete your registration and gain access to the Local Resident Discount Scheme.

I have more than two cars. Why can’t I register for more?

Each household is limited to registering two vehicles for the discount card. This policy ensures fair access to the scheme's benefits.

I need to update my vehicle registration; how do I do this?

I have lost my resident card, how do I get a new one?

If you have lost your card, a £5.00 fee will be charged for a replacement. To arrange this, please email DD_carparking@stanstedairport.com for further assistance.

I need to update my vehicle registration; how do I do this?

What happens if I missed the deadline to re-register my resident card?

Re-registration is now closed; however, your resident card will still work. Please note that if you haven’t re-registered online, you may not receive important information in the future about developments to the resident scheme and our facilities at London Stansted Airport.
