Faith and worship at London Stansted Airport

If you need somewhere for prayer or quiet reflection, please visit one of our prayer rooms in the main Terminal Building.

There is a prayer room located opposite Check-In Zone A. Once you have passed through security, you will find a further prayer room near the Escape Lounge in the main Departure Area.

Both rooms are open 24 hours a day and are for use by people of any faith, or of none.

Ritual washing facilities are provided adjacent to both rooms.

Stansted Airport Chaplaincy offers pastoral care, confidential listening, support, guidance, and more to all who work at the airport as well as those who travel through the airport.

The chaplaincy team is made up of people who have gained many years’ experience in listening to, caring for, and supporting people of all ages, beliefs, backgrounds, circumstances, and roles.

You may come across us anywhere in the airport as we seek to be visible and available within the airport, please look out for us with our purple chaplains lanyards.

What do we do?

Chaplaincy Team members are here to help, support and guide everyone associated with Stansted Airport, of any faith or no faith. This includes staff, passengers and guests, and associated airport companies and organisations.

We offer holistic (Spiritual, Pastoral, Humanitarian) Care for all colleagues across the airport’s many businesses and teams. This will be different for each individual but summed up in the words “help when you need it, support when it matters, and guidance when you seek it”. All matters are handled with professionalism and confidentiality.

More specifically we aspire to the following.

1. to advance religion for the public benefit by the provision of multi-faith chaplaincy service to the staff, passengers and public of Stansted Airport.

2. to assist in the provision and management of the airport’s chaplaincy facilities.

3. to provide and pastoral care for those of all faiths and philosophies.

4. to offer emotional, spiritual and practical support to those in need.

5. to promote religious harmony for the public benefit through communication, education and training.

6. to encourage appreciation of shared values within distinctive beliefs and practices.

7. to promote friendship, goodwill and understanding amongst people of all faiths and philosophies

The Chaplaincy’s Mission Statement

The Chaplaincy Stansted Airport is a living expression of faith through the provision of pastoral and humanitarian care for all people irrespective of age, ability, gender, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, relationship or parental status, within and beyond the airport community.

We all have moments in our lives when we wish we had someone to talk to – someone who we can speak to in complete confidence about whatever is bothering us and knowing that we will not be judged.

As a member of staff here at the airport, if you ever find yourself in that position then the Chaplaincy team are always available for you. That’s true whether it’s just a friendly chat and a cuppa or for a deeper conversation about something that is making you feel anxious. We are here for everyone at the airport whether you have a faith background or not.

We can talk over the phone or in person, whichever you feel most comfortable with in order to support whatever emotional, mental health or spiritual needs you have.
